WHITE NOISE AND VIBRANT MATTER

This is your final week to catch my recent works White Noise and Vibrant Matter at Artspace in Woolloomooloo, Sydney. Crazily, the gallery's open every day and concludes with a big party next Saturday the 10th. To clinch the deal, take a squizz at this ace video by Hospital Hill.

UN PROJECTS

Nice mention of my work in the latest UN Magazine, reviewing Polyphonic Social:

"... the exhibition coincides with the larger theoretical shift away from sounds-in-themselves to sound's sociality and relational aspects - a shift generated by thinkers and artists such as Seth Kim-Cohen, Brandon LaBelle and Julian Day, as well as being the implicit mantra in Liquid Architecture's recent oeuvre."

SOUNDFLY

My music features in a great new initiative. Soundfly is an online series of courses in music production, composing and performing. Cheap as chips and you can preview for free.

For some reason, most Google images of composing make pen nibs or feathers your weapon of choice.

DARK TWIN PODCAST

ABC Classic FM has released a podcast of pianist Zubin Kanga's epic performances of Dark Twin at the Art Gallery of West Australia. Have a listen to my titular piece alongside works by Daniel Blinkhorn, Ben Carey and Cat Hope. Oh and here's a picture of cyborg Zubin with sadface.

MOVING COLLECTED AMBIENCE

My work Moving Collected Ambience (created with Luke Jaaniste as part of Super Critical Mass) is being re-staged next week at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia. It involves dozens of vocalists who use the space as a score to trigger a subtle emergent choreography. MCA collected the work and are presenting it within their new collection show Today Tomorrow Yesterday and within the conference The Forever Now.

Wednesday 31st August (730pm) and Saturday 3rd September (2pm)

1:1

You must watch this video by stunning New York artist Sara Morawetz. It charts her attempt to create and outlay a 1:1 map of Westspace gallery in Melbourne, based on mind-bending musings by Umberto Eco. It also features some pretty devastating voicework by an unnamed male speaker.
