I have just returned from presenting a paper at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts. My presentation was called Pop Will Eat Itself: Hidden Cycles of Exchange in Contemporary Sound. I invoked several artists from the past two decades who foreground the implicit economies behind sound practice. They include the legendary K Foundation who burnt their entire music fortune (a million pounds, at 1994 rates!), the Australian sound art duo Ur 1st Luv and German composer Johannes Kriedler (pictured).
